Russian Businessman Registers Tymoshenko Braid Lollipop Trademark

Oct 29 2012 - 15:05

Russian businessman and marketing expert Stanislav Kaufman has recently obtained a trademark registration for lollipops shaped like the circular braid traditionally worn by Ukrainian former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

The trademark Yulkiny Sosulki (Yulia’s Icicles) has been registered by Russia’s PTO in Class 30 for lollipops. The lollipops will have five flavors and are expected to appear on the Russian market soon.

Kaufman is the brain behind other provocative, politically themed trademarks, namely the Putinka and Volodya and Medvedi vodka brands that make reference to the names of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The Volodya and Medvedi trademark was finally registered this year after a series of appeals.

The lollipop trademark has infuriated Tymoshenko’s supporters.
