Serbian Customs Seize Over Four Tons of Fake Apparel

On February 9, 2017, Serbian customs officials at the Gradina border crossing point with Bulgaria seized over 7,700 apparel items and accessories believed to infringe various well-known trademarks.

While inspecting a truck transporting over 22 tons of goods, the officials identified over four tons of goods believed be counterfeit, namely:

  • Over 4,500 T-shirts believed to infringe the Adidas®, Paul & Shark®, Polo®, Nike®, Tommy Hilfiger®, Puma®, Lacoste®, Armani®, Burberry® and Boss® trademarks;

  • Over 2,500 bags believed to infringe the Guess®, Prada®, Louis Vuitton®, Chanel®, Valentino® and Zara® trademarks;

  • Over 500 pairs of sneakers believed to infringe the Puma®, Adidas® and Nike® trademarks;

  • Over 100 jackets believed to infringe the Moncler®, Burberry®, Philipp Plein® and Tommy Hilfiger® trademarks; and

  • Over 170 wallets believed to infringe the Guess®, Michael Kors® and Philipp Plein® trademarks.

The truck had Macedonian license plates and was traveling from Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
