Serbian Customs Seize Fake Apparel, Footwear

Serbian customs officials at Gradina border crossing point with Bulgaria have recently discovered and seized counterfeit textile goods and footwear bearing the logos of well-known brands.

While inspecting a truck arriving from Turkey and on its way to Subotica, northern Serbia, the officials seized almost 35,000 textile items (underwear, dish cloths, towels, T-shirts, sweatpants), a large portion of which is believed to be counterfeit. The goods, the total value of which is estimated at approximately EUR 30,000 (USD 34,000), bore the marks of Disney, Cars, Garfield, Boss, Calvin Klein and Armani, among others.

While inspecting a truck arriving from Turkey and on its way to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the officials seized 8,500 items believed to be counterfeit, mostly sports clothing and footwear, shirts and children’s sweat suits, bearing the marks of Umbro, Nike, Puma, New Balance, Hello Kitty, Disney, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo, Burberry, Gant, Boss, Armani, Replay, D&G, Gucci and others.
