Russia Shows Large Growth Rates in International Patent and Trademark Filings in 2011

Russia was one of the countries that showed the largest growth rates in international patent and trademark filings in 2011.

According to a recent report by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the patent filings worldwide increased by almost 11 percent in 2011 in comparison with 2010, setting a new record with 181,900 applications. The Russian Federation recorded a growth of almost 21 percent.

42,270 international trademark applications were filed in 2011 under WIPO’s Madrid system, a 6.5 percent increase compared to 2010. Among the top ten trademark filing countries, Russia showed the largest growth rate of almost 36 percent.
