Romanian Customs Seize Adidas, Ferrari, Stihl, Puma, Nike Counterfeits
On September 8 and October 4, 2011, the Romanian customs officials seized a considerable quantity of goods believed to be counterfeit.
On September 8, the customs officials at the port of Constanta, eastern Romania, seized 2,580 pairs of sweatpants bearing the mark of Adidas, 2,100 pairs of gloves bearing the mark of Ferrari and 980 chainsaw blades bearing the mark of Stihl. The goods, worth approximately EUR 232,000 (USD 314,149), were discovered in three containers originating in China, and were intended for three commercial entities in the capital of Bucharest and the Ilfov County, which surrounds Bucharest.
On October 4, the customs officials from the city of Braila, eastern Romania, seized 200 clothing articles bearing the logos of Adidas, Puma and Nike. The goods were found in a store in Braila and are worth approximately EUR 11,600 (USD 16,000).
