Hungarian Customs Seize EUR 1 Million Worth of Fake Goods
The Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration (NTCA) officials recently seized EUR 957,000 (USD 1.06 million) worth of apparel, footwear and accessories believed to infringe numerous trademarks, including Adidas®, Tommy Hilfiger®, Moschino®, Coco Chanel® and Fendi®.
The goods were seized on two different occasions in early August 2019 at the Ártánd border crossing point with Romania and on the M5 motorway in southeastern Hungary. On both occasions, the goods were discovered in trucks travelling from Turkey.
The NTCA officials in the town of Szekszárd in southern Hungary also recently seized EUR 350 (USD 390) worth of counterfeit detergent, which they discovered in the seller’s car during a trap purchase based on an advertisement posted on social media.
