Hungarian Officials Seize Fake Hollóháza Porcelain

The Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration (NTCA) officials recently seized porcelain tableware, funerary urns and other products infringing the Hollóháza® trademark. Hollóháza is an old brand of high-quality Hungarian porcelain.

The exclusive Hollóháza porcelain ware distributor discovered that the alleged Hollóháza products were sold online at a much lower price. Investigation showed that neither the quality of the goods sold online nor the use of Hollóháza patterns met the strict standards of the original porcelain factory.

NTCA officials conducted a search of the counterfeiters’ homes and found out that they had applied Hollóháza patterns and logos on unbranded white porcelain items. The counterfeiters also obtained original Hollóháza porcelain items qualified as waste and priced them as first-class products. The items so far seized by the NTCA are estimated to be worth approximately EUR 1,000 (USD 1,200).
