Armenia Applies for Registration of Domains in Armenian Alphabet

At the beginning of 2014 Armenia applied with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) for a permit to register domains in the Armenian alphabet, Internet Society of Armenia Vice President Grigori Saghyan announced this month.

Saghyan assessed the introduction of domain names in the non-Latin Armenian alphabet as an inevitable and necessary step, and explained that, in accordance with the procedure, the ICANN will make a decision within one year after receiving Armenia’s application.
