Bulgarian Customs Seize Fake Apparel, Footwear

In the time period August 21 – September 12, the Bulgarian Customs officials at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint, southeastern Bulgaria, seized a considerable amount of apparel and footwear believed to be counterfeit.

The seized items include:

• 1,440 pairs of socks bearing Nike and Adidas marks;
• 1,390 clothing items (tracksuits, tops and sweatpants) bearing the Adidas mark;
• 1,028 tracksuits bearing the Puma mark;
• 955 pairs of sneakers bearing Nike, Adidas, Puma, Lacoste and Polo Ralph Lauren marks;
• 900 tops bearing the Puma mark;
• 787 football kits for children bearing FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich marks;
• 250 shirts bearing Zara and Louis Vuitton marks;
• 180 boxer shorts bearing the Tommy Hilfiger mark;
• 180 children’s shirts bearing the Polo Ralph Lauren mark;
• 140 adult tops bearing the Polo Ralph Lauren mark;
• 132 jackets bearing the Tommy Hilfiger mark; and
• 100 pairs of shoes bearing Zara, Levi’s and Lacoste marks.

The seized goods originated in Turkey and were intended for the Bulgarian, Slovakian and Romanian markets.
