Polish Euro 2012 Anthem Copyrighted

Jun 26 2012 - 15:01

Last month Koko Euro Spoko, the Polish anthem for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2012), was registered at the Polish Society of Authors and Composers (ZaiKS) due to a number of remixes that began to appear on YouTube prior to the beginning of the championship.

Michal Malinowski, the promoter of Koko Euro Spoko, explained that the copyright of the official Euro 2012 song had to be protected, as the remixes were mocking the original composition.

The song was composed by Grzegorz Urban and performed by Jarzebina, a group of elderly Polish ladies, at the opening of the Euro 2012 ceremony at Warsaw’s National Stadium on June 8, 2012.
