Kyrgyzstan Accedes to Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization for Foreign Public Documents

In November 2009, the Kyrgyz parliament adopted the Law on the Accession to the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization for Foreign Public Documents. In June 2010, the Kyrgyz government issued a number of by-laws regarding the implementation of the Convention. According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Justice, the Convention is expected to become effective as regards relations between Kyrgyzstan and other parties to the Convention in February 2011.

Under this convention, an official public document issued in one of the signatory countries can be certified in the country of issuance and become valid in all other signatory countries without further diplomatic or consular legalization.
